Kirk Langley is a small parish of 700 people lying to the west of Derby. It has existed for more than a thousand years, confirmed by its mention in the Domesday Book, with evidence of Saxon stone in the its Grade 1 listed Church of St Michael's. There is a Roman Road, now concealed, running through the parish parallel to Long Lane. Within the parish are various settlements along side the village itself - Langley Common, Meynell Langley and The Green with a number of other outlying farms and dwellings.
The village has several Grade 2 listed buildings along with the GB Barrington Playing Field, Kirk Langley C of E Primary School, a small Village Hall, the recently refurbished Blue Bell pub, Meynell Langley Garden Centre and Cafe and allotments.
It is within the South West Parishes Ward of Amber Valley Borough Council and Derbyshire Dales Parliamentary constituency.
