Links to Other Councils
Hertfordshire is a non-metropolitan county, so Redbourn residents elect three tiers of representatives at the parish, borough and county levels. Responsibilities for different services are divided between the three tiers.
Redbourn Parish Council is responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of parts of the village it owns or leases from the other Councils. Examples of this are: Redbourn Common, Cumberland Gardens, play areas on East Common, Long Cutt, Flamsteadbury Lane, Silkmilll Road, the Millennium Site (Old Station Yard) on the Nickey Line, Redbourn Parish Centre, Silkmill House (used by Redbourn Museum, dog bins and seats/memorial benches.
St Albans District Council provides and manages services like housing, benefits, rubbish collections, street and pathway cleaning, missing or damaged planning and building control, parking, etc.
Herts County Council provides and manages services like Adult and Child Social Care, Schools and Education, Household recycling centres, highways etc.
