Who we are & what we do
The Parish Council comprises of 9 volunteer councillors who serve for a term of 4 years and represent an electorate of 1488. Meldreth have just had their first contested election in many years. Along with the Parish Council elections there was also the South Cambridgeshire District elections, Meldreth are now represented by two District Councillors, so we welcome Cllr Jose Hales to our team; Cllr Philippa Hart returns as our District Councillor. The Council meets on the first Thursday of each month except August with additional Planning Committee meetings attended by six councillors being held in between. The agenda is displayed on the Parish notice boards at Bell Close and Elin Way and on the website: www.meldreth-pc.org.uk.
The Parish Council have representatives on other bodies outside the Parish Council and Councillors attend meetings on the Council's behalf. Each member of the Council either serves on a Committee or Working Group or has an area of responsibility.
Contacting the Council
The Clerk's contactable hours for members of the public is only between: Mon- Fri 9am- 2.30pm.
The correspondence address for the Parish Council is not a public office and all meetings with the Clerk are to be arranged by appointment.
All telephone calls to the Parish Clerk are recorded for training & monitoring purposes. Calls are retained in the call log for three months and are deleted on a rolling basis.
What we do in Meldreth
The Parish Council is responsible for many of the amenities of the village including the QEII Playing field, Cricket wicket, 28 items of outdoor gym equipment, petanque pitch, children's play park, over 100 allotments, Little Paxton Lawn Cemetery, 8 notice boards, 5 dog bins, bus shelters and 46 street lights.
The Council also organises the annual village fete' Paxfest & Fun Dog Show' which takes place on the second Saturday of July on the QEII Playing. Paxfest 2018 is on 14th July.

In addition to the Full Parish Council meeting there is the Planning Committee.

Parish Council Elections
The 2018 election was contested and resulted in 9 councillors being voted onto the Council.
The next election is scheduled for 2022.
Meldreth Parish Council Standing Orders
Standing Orders are based on the National Association of Local Council's (NALC) model standing orders and are reviewed and adopted annually at the annual Council Meeting in May.
They are the procedures for Council business including meeting protocol.
