Who we are & what we do
Marks Tey Parish Council consists of 11 elected councillors who serve for a four year term.

On behalf of the Parish the Parish Council owns and manages:
- Marks Tey Recreation Ground
- Annexe Public Toilet
- Annexe Changing Rooms
- Marks Tey Field
- Children's Playground
- Skatepark
- Basketball Court
- Floodlights
- Noticeboards
- Bus stops
- Defibrillators
Council Meetings are usually held on the second Monday of each month, except August - see the diary of meetings for more information.
Planning applications are considered by the Planning Committee. The committee reviews and comments on local planning applications made to Colchester City Council. It looks at ways of working with the County Council to seek to improve the Parish's roads and transport. All applications are reviewed in relation to the Neighbourhood Plan. These meetings are usually held on second Wednesday of each month - see diary of meetings for more information.
There are three other committees that help manage the Parish Council business - see the diary of meetings for more information:
- Staffing & Premises Committee meets every other month and looks after the assets owned by the Parish Council, management of the Parish Hall and rental venues, and staffing issues
- Finance Committee meets every other month to set the budget and carry out an end of year review
- Community Events Committee meets three times a year. and runs the Community Events, Young At Heart, Community Library and Fun Days. It also oversees the Defibrillators.
All Council and Committee meetings are open to members of the public and begin with a public question time.

Any co-option will be done using the Co-option Procedure.

The Parish Council sets out a vision of what it would like to achieve during each 4 year Council term. This vision document is reviewed annually.
