Helmdon Hurler

The Helmdon Hurler is a gruelling (for some!) running event in Helmdon, Northamptonshire. The race covers a distance of 4.3 miles (6.92 km) and starts and finishes opposite the church at the top of Church Street (Manor Farm).

The inaugural Hurler was held on 30 August 2010 and has become an August Bank Holiday tradition in Helmdon.

The route combines the country lanes of Helmdon with the hard-surfaced "Astwell track". The route is gently undulating but not too difficult, even for beginner runners.

The Hurler record is currently held by Paddy Haynes who finished the 2015 Hurler in 23 minutes 53 seconds shaving a whole 1 second off the record set at the 2012 Hurler.

The Helmdon Hurler is a fun race for everyone - young and old, males and females, fit and not so fit. Treat it as a time trial, or amble around at your own pace. The event raises money for local groups and organisations.

The ninth Helmdon Hurler will take place, as usual, on the August Bank Holiday Monday. Bring your family and join in the post run festivities and with a BBQ and a pint.
