Occupation/Career |
Before completing A levels I was 'persuaded' by the headmaster to join the Westminster Bank. After 5 years I left the bank and joined Plessey to be trained as an accountant. After qualifying I worked for Mettoy, Spillers, Plessey and Whitworths. For the last 15 years of my career I was the Chief Financial Officer and Company Secretary for Ilmor Engineering, which later became Mercedes Benz High Performance Engines. Ilmor / Mercedes designed and manufactured Indy and Formula One racing engines. I retired in 2005 |
Personal circumstances |
I am married to Jill and have two children, three grandsons & one granddaughter. |
Background |
I lived in Lillingstone Lovell, a small village in Buckinghamshire, until I married. We lived in Blisworth, Northampton and Towcester before moving to Nene Rise, Cogenhoe in 1969 and to our present bungalow on Station Road in 1973. |
Interests |
Moving into a derelict bungalow with limited finances I soon became a DIY expert. I became very interested in motor racing after visiting Silverstone for the first time in 1951. I own two Model T Fords from 1914 and 1916 and am a director of the Model T Ford Register. I am a trustee of The Lowdown, a charity based in Northampton, which provides advice and help to young people. I am a member of the Cogenhoe and Whiston Heritage Society. |

Why I joined the Council |
Having always lived in a rural area I joined to try to help maintain the quality of village life and conserve the buildings and surrounding countryside for the enjoyment of the parishioners of Cogenhoe and Whiston. |
