Who We Are & What We Do

A parish council is a corporate body and is the first tier of local government. It is therefore closest to the people it serves.
A parish council has a responsibility to undertake projects and schemes that will benefit its residents, for example the provision of benches within the parish or play equipment, and may finance such projects through the raising of a precept .

Bransgore Parish Council consists of 10 elected councillors who serve for a four year term. The Council has a Code of Conduct, which all councillors must abide by.

On behalf of the parish the Parish Council owns and manages:

  • Bransgore Village Hall and Recreation Ground, including the MUGA, Skate Park, Exercise Equipment and Play Equipment
  • Bransgore Pavilion and Sports Ground
  • Clare Lodge Copse

Council Meetings are held on the third Tuesday of each month, except August and December, in the Village Hall at 7.30pm.

There are 3 committees that help manage the parish council's assets whose meetings are also held on Tuesday evenings:

  • Amenities Committee meets 6 times a year on the second Tuesday and looks after the assets owned by the Parish Council.
  • Finance and Resources Committee meets 4 times a year on the forth Tuesday to review budgets and staffing, oversee budget setting and review end of year procedures and internal audit.
  • Planning Committee meets on the first Tuesday of each month. As as consultee they are invited by the local plannning authories (New Forest District Council and New Forest National Park Authority) to make comments and rcommendations on any planning applications in the parish.

All Council and Committee meetings are open to members of the public and begin with a democratic session where the public may speak.

For further information relating to the services offered by the Parish Council please contact the Parish Clerk who will be happy to give advice and assistance.
