Councillor Profile

Miranda has been a parish councillor for over 20 years and during that time has served as chair of the council and chair of the Recreation and Leisure Committee; she is currently vice-chair of the council. She is particularly interested in ensuring that the opportunities for leisure in the parish are open and accessible for all no matter what age or ability, and as, a keen gardener, is keen to see our allotments well used and enjoyed.

Miranda currently represents the council on the Cam & Dursley youth services committee; this oversees the youth service in both parishes, which we commission jointly from The Door youth project. She also represents the council on the management committee of Woodfield Community Centre where the youth club is based in Cam, and is also a council representative on Cam Institute Charities and Dursley United Charities.

Apart from being a parish councillor she is a board member of Vale Vision Development Trust, the community group established to take a co-ordinated approach to community development in Cam, Dursley and surrounding parishes: she compiles the 'What's On in Cam, Dursley & District' publication, assists with maintenance of the Sculpture Trail in Dursley woods and is a member of the group working to establish the Greenway, which is planned to go from Uley to the station.

Miranda is also a Stroud district councillor representing the Cam East ward, serving on the housing and development control committees, and is a governor at two local primary schools. She has lived in Cam for 26 years and has two grown up children who were educated at a local primary school and Rednock.
